01 / Research

My work focuses on formal semantics and its interfaces.

I am researching what rules govern the interplay between entailment and grammaticality, with a special interest in understanding what logical system is best suitable to model such rules. I work on a handful of puzzles: Hurford disjunction, plurals, free choice, and ellipsis. Alongside these topics, I'm also very interested in visual perception and shape parsing.

01

Mereology & no-overlap

My dissertation investigates how the mereological notion of no-overlap constrains the licensing of a broad range of semantic structures.

02

Disjunction & free choice

The inferences licensed by disjunction, with particular attention to Hurford configurations and free-choice effects.

03

Plurality

Plural predication, numerous-like expressions, genericity, maximality, and the architecture of plural meaning.

04

Ellipsis & syntax

How unpronounced material is interpreted, and what VP-ellipsis and parasitic gaps reveal about structural parallelism.
